The national organization for civil registration is an Iranian government organization which operates within the ministry of interior. Its responsibility is to collect the country’s population statistics and information.
This organization is responsible for preparing basic registration information such as births and deaths, marriages and is also responsible for issuing identity documents. In general, responsibilities of the organization for civil registration include:

The organization for civil registration has, in accordance with executive guidelines and related laws, created the unified system for the identity of Iranians on the 23rd of august 2022, in order to facilitate the provision of smart services to the population and businesses as part of the Organization’s smart services gateway and the unified national gateway for government smart services.
The services provided by the system include:
Logins the Unified Iranian Identity Portal facilitates login and identity verification for accessing services within the SAHIM gateway Accessing this gateway from the Iranian digital identity portal or the My Government Portal can be done through this system. This allows for the organizational services gateway to be connected to the national gateway.
Family information database:
by using this service the user could view their family information which includes parents, spouse, and children and should there be any inconsistencies they could submit the edits to be reviewed and implemented.
National Smart Identity Card Registration:
This service will be used for the pre-registration for the request of identity cards. Users can complete the application online, providing all necessary information. The system then locates a conveniently located services office with available capacity and schedules an appointment to receive the physical card. Finally, the fees for the national identity card will be received from the user by redirecting them to a payment gateway.
Address Change Registration:
As the central address repository for government bodies, the Organization for Civil Registration offers this service for users to update their residential address. By doing so, after two hours the new information would be registered in the organization’s address database and will be used for address inquiries. his updated information will be used for all future address inquiries by government institutions.
Statistical data access:
The user could view the basic statistics produced for society at large and should they need a set of specific basic statistics they could register the request so that such statistics would be produced online and presented to the user.
Newborn Birth Registration:
parents could register the requests for providing identity documents for newborn children. This request can be performed after the information of the newborn is sent from the health ministry to the organization for civil registration.

This service streamlines the selection of a name for newborn. Browse the list of approved names or, if you have a unique choice in mind, submit it for review by a dedicated committee.

Re-issuing identity documents:
This service allows for the registration of the request to re-issue old identity documents, identity documents without photos, lost identity documents and to change identity information. The user can become aware of the status of their request by SMS and by referring to the requests segment in the SAHIM gateway.
